Hi and welcome to the migraine-headache board!
Is she able to log on and join us? Diagnosing and treating headaches is pretty difficult and she maybe be able to share some specifics so we have better advice for her.
There are three things I would tell anyone who is dealing with head pain (in no particular order)
1) find a headache specialist (not just a neurologist as they work with many issues and at times don't focus enough on head pain, and I also find that a lot of the times their other patients are viewed as "more important" because they have things that can be seen--can't talk, have seizures, trouble walking etc) and have tests done...MRI/MRA etc
2) keep a headache diary noting foods, sleep and weather pattern, menstrual cycle as well as pain levels and
3) research the specific symptoms she has and learn as much as you can, you know your body better than anyone else and you have to be as educated as possible being a *partner with your doctor
There are "triggers" she can avoid once she knows what those are (there's a post about
triggers if you want to do a search
also, there are herbal treatments that can help as well as other medications. Imitrex tends to be the 1st line of defense and a lot of people will need something different at some point. If she is having migraines frequently she could benefit from preventative medications.
I wish I could be of more help! Feel free to have her stop by and we will do all we can to help her out, and a lot of times it's very comforting to know that you are not alone.
Thanks for coming by and asking about
her, that is very sweet...and I imagine it is hard for you to watch her in pain as well.
