I'm 45 have had migraines off and on since I was about
14...until a few years ago. Now I seem to have some random ones but mostly menstrual migraines, bad to severe. I had infertility problems and only had one child...didn't have any migraines during pregnancy. A couple years ago while not on BC pills or having regular cycles on my own, I started daily bleeding not a lot, but every day and found out I had pre-cancerous cells. I took meds for a couple months and had a D & C. The best option to prevent rare possibility of pregnancy and control pre-cancerous cells was birth control pills. Seasonale and Seasonique didn't work, bled through whole 3rd month. Dr suggest doing Yaz and skipping one period. Migraines have gotten worse, both when I stop taking the hormone pills and when I start. He now gave me Maxalt for the migraines, since Execedrin Migraine doesn't always cut it anymore. Half the time I have to take a second dose, one isn't enough, then I can't function, off-balance and unable to concentrate. I feel like I'm chasing symptoms and wondering if the best option isn't to do the hysterectomy, I won't have to take the birth control pills and no more worries of pre-cancerous cells. Anybody have experience, good or bad? I know I could still have migraines, but if I don't have to fluctuate hormones it seems like it shouldn't be as bad or frequent.
