How do you know it's time to go to the ER for migraine pain that does not go away with

regular meds??? What kind of medication does the hospital give you.................

 

If all abortives have failed, I'd recommend calling your prescribing doctor for their advice. If you're having pain at higher-than-normal severity, that's also a reasonable time for the ER. As for drug cocktails, everyone is different. "Migraine" is loose term for a bad headache that encompasses many diagnoses. Many people have severe mental side effects, primarily akisthisa, to phenothiazines (like phenergan). As for toradol, many ERs are hesitant to treat headache patients (especially those who frequent the ER) with opioid medications, so their favorite alternative seems to be toradol. After receiving it so frequently, I just asked my doctor for a script for IM toradol. If that fails, then I'll go the ER.
