Hello there, new to this whole thing. I'm 17 years old and have been diagnosed with Chronic Daily Migraines about 2 months ago. I have been suffering from bad headaches since January, on a daily basis, and to be honest I didn't think it was migraines, as it just felt like a pain in my head. I was put on Amitriptilyne 2 months ago and use aspirin/ibuprofen, however recently I have actually been suffering what feels like migraine attacks (dull head pain, not being able to move, being sick etc) I never experienced these before I was diagnosed. Was I mis-diagnosed? Are the tablets causing these attacks, or have the headaches developed? I didn't want to question my doctor about the diagnosis because she's the expert! Any help or information would be greatly appreciated, thank you!! tongue

Hi Manda,

Welcome to healing Well. Sorry to hear you are suffering with this. This could be rebound attacks which are more intense and generally worse than the usual attacks for most people and difficult to get rid of. These can be bought on by taking painkilling medication for more than 2 days in any one week!! I know you will now scream at me and say I have to as I get pain daily, talk to you Neuro about ways of sorting this out!

Some sufferers find that their attacks 'evolve' as time goes on, but what ever this is I would advise you to go back to your Neuro and explain what has been happening, there is probably a very simple answer to this but I am not a Doc, and it is always worth checking things out! Don't be intimidated by the fact that they might be an expert - that is exactly what you want here!! You are not questioning their judgement or skill merely informing them of some changes that are taking place. I wish you well with this, please let me know how you get on??

Thanks very much for the advice. Last time I got an appointment with my Neuro it took 3 months. No knowing how long a next appointment will take! I will go back and see him, and ask him for advice. I will stop taking painkillers. ( : Thanks a lot!!

From the way you say a pain in your head I don't know, Migraines manifest themselves as a sharp stabbing pain behind either the right or left eye. The only relief I got was lying in a completely dark room with a towel stuffed in the crack under the door to stop any light at all. If anyone did any cooking the smells would intensify the migraine until I would have to throw up, but that meant leaving your dark sanctuary to go to the toilet and heave. If these are not your symtums find a new Dr.
All the pain killers you mentioned do cause rebound headaches as stated earlier and the only way to cut them out is start taking less on a declining bases. If you stop all at once you will suffer horribly for a few days
