Aura when eyes are closed...not open

I am under investigation for silent migraines, I have been told about aruas but do really have any light streaks in my eyes during the day.  However, at night, when I am trying to sleep I get light "shots" in my eyes and sometimes I think someone has turned my bedroom light on...but no one has.  Have you ever heard of aura when the eyes are closed?

I don't always have visual auras but when I do it is usually a jagged, thunderbolt that shimmers..............If I close my eyes during it the aura seems to intensify. It is so much more comfortable to leave my eyes open. Though open or closed the aura is still there. If you open your eyes when this happens does the aura disappear?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, when I open my eyes it disappears. Although, last night, I got up to got to the bathroom and when I opened my eyes, the room looked like the matrix except in black and white dots. It was like that until I went back to bed and closed my eyes.

I don't get a traditional aura as they describe it. I start to feel tense and a dull pain. It doesn't matter if my eyes are open or closed, I feel it coming and I know it is going to get worse. I never called it an aura, I thought it was the beginning of a migraine but it's way more mild than the pain that comes to follow. I don't think the symptom is the same for everyone.
