I am SOOO very glad to read that someone else has had the same problem with the nasty tasting cola problem !! I thought that I was going crazy for awhile. I've never been an absolute lover of Pepsi or Mt.Dew, etc ... but Topomax has completely ruined my taste buds-when it comes to several food items. And as far as weight loss...that's actually a side effect I'm okay with - ha! I was on Depakote for several years to treat daily migraines. If I don't have medication in my system, my migraines come back...so severe that I cannot lift my head up off the bed. With Depakote, I gained weight, but can't say that I had too many other noticable side effects in those 3 years to complain about
. I tried several other meds for migraines, none of which worked AT ALL. I have one in the cabinet now...cost me $90 for 7 pills. Maxalt I think it is. I took one of them...one time. Still had the headache, until it knocked me out!! I was in a coma-type sleep for several hours. Definately did not like that feeling. I don't want to have to take a med after i already HAVE an awful migraine. I need something to keep them from occuring !! After having my 2nd son, my new neurologist wanted to change me over to Topomax. Over an 8 month period, I lost a total of 25lbs. I had no appetite whatsoever. When I did eat, it definately wasn't healthy food either ! Love my sweets and fried food
. I also suffer from Fibro, and IBS, which dosent help any. I experience the 'tingling sensations' alot. And the memory loss / loss of words is just plain frustrating each and every day. I have to say... I can still remember how relieved I was when this medication first worked for me though. I'd had sick, debilatating migraines for 2wks straight, seen 4 drs, all with no answers. So this was an absolute lifesaver for me !! The side effects suck for sure, but when I'm dealing with them, I just remember those awful headaches instead...
