I have had a tendency toward headaches most of my life...usually tension or hormone related. They've always gone away though. I have now had some type of headache for a month. I say "some type" because it changes. Sometimes it is my suboccipital muscles, neck, and shoulders, with pain that radiates up both sides of my head. Sometimes it is over my sinuses, and is more of a pressure-like feeling. Sometimes it is all of it together. At times they are mild enough for me to go about my life, and other times they are debilitating. I have spent more time in the bed over the past four weeks than I can imagine.
I called my doctor about it after about a week-and-a-half. She prescribed Bupap for tension, which did nothing but make me feel a little loopy. I also tried Tylenol #3, which was not helpful most of the time. I tried heat, ice, a mouth guard, kept a headache diary...the whole nine yards. I can't take NSAIDS, so Advil, Aleve, and aspirin aren't options. Nothing helps.
I finally got in to see the doctor on Monday of this week. She said I had a right ear infection - eardrum was very red - and my sinuses were inflamed. She gave me a shot of Rocephin and Decadron (a steroid), and ordered a CT scan. I haven't had the CT scan yet, but it is in the works.
Yesterday morning I felt better, but by the end of the day I had a lot of pressure over my face. It wasn't as bad as it had been though. Unfortunately this morning I woke up and the headache was back, but different. I have a lot of tenderness over my face, but not really anywhere else. My eyes feel very heavy and sensitive to light. My head feels like it weighs too much. I am so tired I can barely keep my eyes open. Could the antibiotic be working, and that's why I feel this way now?
I am trying not to freak out over this. It's hard to have a headache for this long and not be worried about brain tumors and other scary things. It is incredibly frustrating. My quality of life SUCKS right now.
