Hey all my Names Rob just thought id pop in and say Hello.
I started with my first 3 days Headache/Migraine aged 23 and was prescribed Naramig which promptly took care of it, but ever since ive been on the decline and had many many preventives, im now diagnosed with Chronic daily
and am now 43.
I wake most morning with what most of you will know of as a dull right sided kind of cloud of doom, heavy head, like ive been drinking lots of wine, which normally will grow in intensity or subside, i know that if i take an Imigran it will 80% chance clear, i dont rely on them but its the only real thing that clears them, over the counter meds dont work at all, normaly Intake is about 6 Imigran a month, been like this for over 10 years.
preventives tried have been
beta Blockers
Gabapentin
Amatriptyline
Pitzotiphen
Toparimate
methysurgide i had a great experience with this one
I now back on Toparimate and its kinda working 50mg at night 50mg in the morning, but i can still feel the slight throb, i am starting to keep a diary now, as they will after 2 months try me with Botox in my head, which im not looking forward to 36 injections in my head :( every 3 months
I have 2 kind of Migraines 1 thats right sided and down the kneck, and the other is the nasty one that aches and is all over and imigran wont touch.
The latter Migraine i can sometimes shift of i take Imigran followed by a sleep and then weirdly an Alka Seltzer XS. could be the caffeine or stomach settling that helps unsure.
The experience i had with methysurgide was one that made me drop to 1 imigran in 6 months which was amazing, but i was told to have a 1 month break due to it being a nasty drug, i then started again and it never was the same :(.
Its a nasty old world is migraine, and one i wish i could lose, the Only thing i have never tried and that is differing from when i was 24 is that i am not fit, when i hit 23 /24 i stopped football running etc, ie i got lazy.
i need to try that again ie exercise, start to get back into all that again, but its just motivating myself its hard :) esp with cloud of doom over me.
