Wow. I have never actually registered for a forum until I found this one. I am 26 years old and have had these migraines since I was about 12. I've been to doctors that all say its just migraines but they have never told me the type of migraine. I've had a MRI and no tumors. I just had a migraine yesterday so I'm home from work with what I like to call a "migraine hangover" I feel like crap! So, here is how mine start. I start to get tunnel vision and the "flash" or firework looking thing (aura) I guess. Then whatever side my migraine is going to be on, the opposite arm starts to feel strange and like detached from me or far away. I don't know how to explain it. Then it'll go numb as well as my hand and that side of my face. I then try to go to sleep immideatly because I get so freaked out by all of it. The dr gave me sumavel, anyone use these? I don't think they take the pain away completely though. So when I wake up, that's when I have the actual pain from the migraine. Ugh. I seem to be gettin them recently every other month or so. I have certain food triggers like wine and if I eat too many peanuts. But that's all really. And if I haven't been drinking water. Other than that, I'm not sure what triggers them. People say areas and that may be but I never know when I'm stressed until I get one! I take Effexor twice a day for anxiety. I was just changed to this back in February since its a little cheaper than cymbalta! (Insurance changed) I think I read on a post that Effexor "probably" helps with preventing migraines but I haven't seen a change. That was actually surprising to read because I hadn't heard that before. Anyway, thanks for reading and posting! I don't think my coworkers believe how bad they are and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! Oh and now I have a typefor the migraine! Any suggestions?
