I have been suffering with migraines/dizziness for years now and I am wondering if anyone knows how to stop the dizziness and or advice. I wake up with a dizzy feeling in the morning and usually it makes me sick to my stomach and then it goes away for the day and it will progressively get worse and usually on the third day I have a constant dizziness and vomiting all day. It lasts 3-4 days and it usually is only really bad one day, but the pain is about
a 10. It then will go away. It normally comes every 10-11 weeks. It is very persistent and probably in the last 5 years I have not missed that 10-11 week mark. I just do not understand it and doctors do not either. I have been on many pills (cyproheptadine, maxsalt, antivert (meclizine), topamax (for a short time and then was scared of side effects), herbs (butterbur, magnesium, feverfew), accupuncture, chiropractor. Does anyone know of anything that they have tried and also have known of anyone getting migraines or dizziness at a specific time every month, week, year, etc? Please let me know. As of now I am diagnosed with Migraine Associated Vertigo, but I am just confused with why everyone else I hear or talk to does not come at a certain time every time.
Thank you.

Land,
If you are female it could be hormonal.
I take 225mg a day [plus other meds] of topomax with no side effects that are terrible. I drink lots of water to wash the kidneys.
I have daily chronic pain. I do however get peaks, not in what you would call cycles, but I use imitrex and it does help the pain.
I use melt away tabs for nausea, forget the name of the drug.
Peace and comfort.

Trina,
Yes, I am female. Thank you maybe I should try topamax again.

Being a woman, you might also be a little anaemic, which is fairly common.
Dizzy feeling in morning may be because of low blood pressure, especially if it's worse as you stand up quickly.

As strange as it sounds, you may want to talk to your doctor about
going on or switching your birth control.
I have migraines, a couple of years ago I went off my birth control pills and discovered a very very nasty surprise. My migraines got much much worse. I ended up going back on them, and when I started to note my migraines, I noticed that every month when I went off the pill I would get a migraine, when I actually started my period, migraine, and when I went back on the pill, migraine. After talking to my doctor, they put on 3 month continuous use to reduce the number of migraines. A few months ago, my health department stopped having my usual pill, and the doctor decided to put me on Micronor. Lets just say I had more and worse migraines in the 6 weeks that followed, than I had had for most of the decade I had been getting migraines. I am now back on a pill containing estrogen, they decided that the benefits outweighed the risks, but it was something of a fight. Type matters, there are several different types of progesterone and not everyone reacts the same way to each.
For some, the pill is a trigger in itself. I have 2 sisters, one doesn't fair well on the various pills, and gets more migraines on them. The other is doing better on the pill she was given. However, I can't take her pill, it doesn't agree with me, but the one I'm actually on, doesn't agree with a lot of other people. So it may take some trial and error.

considering the Pill. There are other options to birth control.
Talk to a family planning center, your gyn and family doc. Know your options.
Peace

Please ask your doctor to evaluate you for Mariners Disease.
Or, just google it and compare your symptoms!

Thank you all very much. I have not logged in considering I have not had migraine associated vertigo since then and now the time came around again. I talked to my doctor about
birth control and I may be prescribed for this. Thank you hopefully it helps. Also, I don't think it is meniere's disease because I don't have any problems with my hearing at all.
Thanks.
