C-Layne...
I went through the same thing....I have been dealing with this for more than 10 years...
It started out what I like to call "NORMAL PEOPLE MIGRAINES" where they are managable and you don't want to take prescription medications...but then you get to the point where they continually get worse and you decide you will take whatever you have to, just to diminish the pain!
My first suggestion would be to see a doctor...maybe not that jerk who didn't explain anything...but see someone...I find it hard to believe that there's not a specialist..but maybe you do live in the sticks (smile) just kidding! There are so many treatment options...suffering in pain without having to is just silly...You really should try something...and if you prefer...you could try the herbal route...me personally, I don't want to wait...several weeks to see if it will prevent an attack when I can take something to get rid of one in progress....
I would rather get rid of the pain...and then figure out how to keep it from coming back! ha ha
Ice on your head is good, sometimes a warm bath...of course lay down in a dark room...turn a fan on yourself. As I'm sure you've heard before keep a headache journal so you can find potential triggers for what might be setting this off...I also suggest for you to read...Heal your Headache 1-2-3...it has some great information on how to deal with the headaches and watch for triggers etc...I have read some 60 headache books and this is one of my favorites for general information especially for explaining thresholds etc.
Hang in there,
Sara
