Persistant Aura

I went to a specialized physical therapist about the vertigo. My vertigo can be caused by a migraine, wearing glasses, and once by a bad flu. He told me that I need to keep constantly moving and taught me motions to make the vertigo worse. The body will know that something is wrong and will correct itself. There were times I wanted to collapse on the floor and throw up, but it works.

My migraines and the symptoms are caused mostly by food triggers. Doing an elimination diet or migraine diet will help you determine if you have any. For me, vertigo migraine is only triggered by the popular baking soda replacement and preservative in processed foods - sodium phosphate. Pre-pregnancy, I mostly ate fresh fruits and veggies to avoid this trigger. Sensitivity to light and visual auras are caused by a huge list of other food triggers for me.

I've been doing the diet for a year and still doing it. I eat safe foods and experiment with new ones on my days off so that I have time to recover if it is a trigger.

I have been suffering with migraines with aura, also known as "classic migraine", since the age of 13. had them all my life, and just learned to live with them. I always got an aura, consisting of flashes of light, zigzag lines, etc which would last off and on for several hours, and then be followed by an excruciating headache. This all started to lighten up and become less frequent as I got into my forties. I probably went over 10 years without a single episode. Then, in my fifties I would get occassional migraine with aura, but the headaches were lessening. I am now 59 years old. I broke my hip at the beginning of the summer, and spent 4 months not being able to work (or get paid), and not being able to walk. I had to use a wheelchair or a walker to get around. I spent everyday sitting in the house by myself, while my husband went to work. Thankfully,my hip is healed now, but 8 weeks ago I developed one of my typical migraines with aura, and it has not gone away! I have had an aura every single day for 8 weeks. I believe the stress from the hip injury sent me over the edge. I have been to 3 neurologists, and 2 opthamologists. I've had both a CT scan, and an MRI of the brain. No one seems to have any answers as to what is happening, and if or when this will ever go away.I'm able to function, and I have returned to work, but there is always those wavy lines and flashes, usually in the lower right quadrant of my right eye. It always looks like a piece of whatever I'm looking at is not there. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, do you have any advice for me?
