Hi ttwarrior,
I have just read your posts and have a couple of thoughts you might discuss with your doctor:
1.) How about a beta blocker for your blood pressure? My neurologist suggested a beta blocker for my migraines and it also helped my blood pressure. Beta blockers increase the amount of oxygen in your blood which for me decreases the throbbing.
2.) You mentioned your headache med is cafeine, codeine and acetominophen, which I know to be generic Tylenol 3s. These are really bad for causing rebound headaches. As Ann mentioned, a triptan medication might help better. Zomig and Imitrex have nasal sprays that bypass your stomach. Zomig also has one that melts in your mouth and I find that works better than those that digest in your stomach.
3.) Is there medicare available if you have no money which will pay for medications or a visit to a neurologists.
4.) I live in Canada, but we get American TV. There has been an organization advertized on the TV called www.pparx.org. It apparently helps Americans get their prescriptions paid for if they can't afford them. I don't know anything about it, but could it possibly help you?
5.) Have you tried some relaxation techniques? (i.e. meditation, yoga) I find these very helpful to relax and calm my headaches sometimes.
Good luck.
