hillside23 - You sound like an echo to my own situation. I feel the exact same way - I just told a friend of mine this morning that I wish a brain tumor would show up on one of my scans just so that 1) everyone would believe my pain is real and 2) maybe there would be something to do to "fix it". I have actually found a regimen of meds that work but then last week, my doctor's office informed me that I was taking too much of my meds and wouldn't refill them. I ended up in the ER on Saturday because of this. I finally talked to someone else in my doc's office yesterday and when she told him what had happened, he rewrote my scripts. I am hoping that by having my meds, I can stay out of the ER. It is so frustrating though. My meds work (at least for now) but then everyone starts saying I am taking too many. I guess IV narcotics are a better solution in the medical people's eyes - I don't know. I do what the doctor says and then, it seems to be the wrong thing. Whatever!
Hang in there. Hopefully, you can find a doctor that will continue to try and help you. I am beginning to wonder if having my neurologist send me to a pain clinic would be a good answer; however, I hear many stories of horror about some pain clinics. I am not sure that I think they are in it to fix you or even to give you relief - I worry that they are so in it for the money and want to try every thing they can that costs big bucks and don't care if you are getting a decrease in pain. Maybe someone else on here can chime in about migraine sufferers going to a pain clinic.
Hope things get better for you. Take care!
