I think my Brimble's Public House (pub) is my favorite. It so reminds me of my hometown, and my current neighborhood...lower middle class (poor!), hard working blue-collar people, folks who stop in for a shot-and-a-beer after work. Nobody gets drunk...just a "little high", then go home, have dinner, crash in front of the TV, on the couch. A place where "everybody knows your name"....
It's great fun. And hard work. And could be EXPENSIVE. But something I can do from the waist up...and lots of fun.
I have a whole village going: Catterville, with The Lady Garfield (the large victorian) as the centerpiece, Maggie Goodkat, mistress of The Lady Garfield, and all the Goodkits....
And them Brimble's Public House (from which the word "pub" comes), owned by Brimble, a Cat with a somewhat shady background, his father a mouser in the slums of Catterville, but Brimble risen above that, a bit haughty...but always quick with a joke-and-a-smoke, and a goodhearted fellow...
in love with Purrsyla Tabbykins, a young woman cat, spayed before her time, so a bit innocent, naive..doesn't quite understand the double entendre of the name of her bookstore (The Purple Prose -- purple prose being "naughty language"...pornography..), neither of which occur in her store.. where she's made friends with Miss Daisy, a doll made out of a closepin...
and Ric the Archaeologist..who looks uncannily like a REAL archaelogist and mentor of my husband (who studied archaeology in college), who now lives in The Washington, and is examining a potential archaeology site, south of town... who also is enchanted by Purrsyla, but who realizes he is of a different species, and so probably not a suitable suitor, but looks out for her just the same...
and Graham, proprietor of Graham's Grub'N'Stuff, a grocery store, next to Purrsyla's bookstore, where Graham looks out for her, just in case the AlleyCats attack her again (she was rescued by Ric one night, and gently carried back to Maggie, who sat her down and made her drink catnip tea and put her to bed for awhile until she recovered, and then allowed her to board with her and care for the Goodkits when she's not busy in her store..)..
and soon there will be The Brookwood Meeting Place, suitable for group meetings of all sorts, including any religious organizations who wish to meet there (Unitarian-Univeralist, Christian, Jew, Islam, ancient Egyptian..whatever..), and general parties and other festivities...
and then 2 more houses yet to be built, one more room box (like the bookstore and grocery store), and a garden scene....
Yes, I know. WAY too much time on my hands. But great fantasy.. :)
