have i got ms??

please can anyone 1 help ........

im a 33year old male

im from the uk and for the last 3 months i have been feeling under the weather. i have been to the doctors numerous times and basically been told its a viral infection that will hopefully pass. however after searching the net y'day i discovered my symptoms are very similar to ms. it started with dizzyness then quickly moved onto balance issues. my next symptoms were chest pain and erratic breathing (which were given the ok by the hospital) my next problem was a rash on my chest and back which cleared up in 5 days (doctor said this was a viral rash) then my face started getting hot, but no temperature, with this i had a dull ache at the top of my arm. now all the symptoms above and mostly gone, but the dizzyness has returned. it seems everything has done a full circle. i have had blood test for autoimmune and numerous other ones but all came back negative. obviously ms is diagnosed by an mri and lumbar puncture. i am seeing my doc tomorrow to ask to be referred to a neurologist.

obviously something is up but i just want to know what is wrong.

I have to agree that u'r symptoms don't sound a lot like ms, but i do think there could be some sort of infection going on, maybe even lyme. Have u been to the lyme board?? The rash could be indicative of lyme. The referral to a neurologist is possibly a good idea...rule out anything neurological. Do u know if u've been tested for lyme?? What viral infection did u'r doc say he thought u had?? I'd persue this infection pathway and see where that takes u. It doesn't sound like u have ms, but let the neuro rule that out for u too. MS is not always dx'd in the same ways with everyone. An mri and lumbar puncture aren't the only ways or sure fire ways to dx ms. It's a process of elimination whereby all other possibilities are eliminated and THEN ms is dx'd. Take care and try to be patient. This may take some time to get an answer to, but if it's ms it will show up.

i have just seen the doctor who has referred me to a neurologist. he also does not think it is ms but wants to rule out any neurological issues just in case. to answer some of the questions above, im not sure if i was tested for lymes, was just told autoimmune?!?! at 1 stage they did think it was a respiratory infection which i was given antibiotics for ..... but obviously didnt work!! im just finding it quite hard to handle this problem that wont just go away!!

My guess is that you have caused this through worry.  It is a very easy thing to do.  You have been sick with some disturbing symptoms (vertigo is awful), you do some research and in the process you have increased your anxiety.  Please stop researching symptoms.  I am glad you are going to a neurologist.  Now here is the hard part: don't say "MS" when you get there.  Just tell the doctor what you have been experiencing as clearly as possible.  Give him the information he needs and asks for, but if you walk in self diagnosing, most doctors dismiss you as a hypochondriac or someone who is suffering from higher than average anxiety (both of which are real illnesses that cause real suffering by the way).  Good luck and let us know how you are doing and what the doctor says.  We have a lot of members that come here in "limbo" and you are always welcome to ask questions and vent.
