Hey Everyone

Just popping in for a few mins to ask for u'r prayers/good thoughts as we get ready for Gustav. He's looking to be a bad one and we're all bracing for the worst. We've tied everything down and put all the possible missiles away and have pretty much gathered all we can in the way of staple foods and such. I'm in South Mississippi, so maybe we won't get too much of it's worst but, the thing is that when Katrina came there was that same thought as now; that it'd stay the course projected by NOAA and be more of a LA/TX storm. However, when it hit the warm gulf waters it turned a bit and of course hit us. I know many of u are here in the south with me...please be safe and take refuge in designated safe places should u need to. Let's all come back here together on the other side of this, safe and well. Rhonda,

 

I will keep you, your family and all our other boarders in my prayers.  I hope Gustav spares everyone and just leaves a trail of rain.  Keep us posted as you can.

Hey Everyone

Thanks for this. At this post the power at my home just came back on. I suspect the reason it was off is because the winds blew an already Katrina weakened tree onto a line. Thank goodness it's back on, but we don't expect it to last thru the night. It's been pouring here...a good thing because that weakens the winds i'm told. Poor New Orleans has already begun to feel the extreme effects and will be feeling it for awhile now. Please continue to keep everyone in u'r prayers and thanks so much for this!

Rhonda- you may not be able to read this if your power is out again, but just want to say I am thinking about you! You sound like you know what to do, but I imagine it doesn't make it any less scary and stressful. Take care of you. You seem like the sort of person who takes care of others, just don't forget to take care of you during this time! I'm going to check the news now. Willow

Hey Everyone

Thank u all for u'r prayers and warm wishes for everyone facing Gustav! He turned out to be less than was predicted...thank God...and it seems that even tho there will be much damage, there is much less than expected. More importantly, fewer deaths...tho any are tragic. We in south Mississippi have so far only gotten strong winds and lots of rain, but no where near what Katrina brought. I"m told Biloxi and Gulfport are still experiencing strong winds and surg waters are up and into a few homes, but again, nothing like Katrina was. We couldn't have been more blessed and we know it. Biloxi is a beautiful town! Unfortunately they had water inland 1 mile when Katrina devestated them. Water covered the coastline 1 mile in and 45 miles across and completely demolished everything...leaving it as if nothing had been there before. It was so sad. This time they have been spared and we're so relieved. I have always wished there was a way to say thank u to all those who sent things and helped everyone in need during Katrina. My own community was not hit in the way that would leave people needing basics....clothing and such...but we were in need of water and at times food for some. We set up a 'station' at my church for those who did need such things. We cooked and helped sort things and get them to those in need. There were so many not only from New Orleans, but from the MS coast and areas in between who needed everything. People from MA, PA, CA, ND, and on and on...sent things for all of us...whoever needed it...just because they cared and would. I will never forget opening a box of clothes and seeing a hand written note on the top of that box...it read "God Bless you from MA". So, thank u everyone. Thank u all for being here and supporting everyone in both thought or prayer and actions. All those who needed u during those times and now may never get to say that, but u should know they want to.

Rhonda, Happy to hear that you are okay, and of course, that this hurricane was not as bad as expected. I haven't had any cable or internet for past day and a half so I was not able to read this thread earlier. Now they are talking about 2 or 3 news storms out in the Atlantic. Hopefully, they will weaken.

Oh dear Rhonda!!!! This is the first I have checked in here lately.  I will keep you in my prayers.  I am sure you are doubly scared.  With God on you side I'm sure it will be fine.  I read in the news that this time is better.  Bless your heart.  Be safe.  God Bless.
