Hi Spinningmawmaw, and welcome to the MS board. I read your other thread, and I’m sorry to hear you’ve been so sick. I hope these upcoming tests can shed some light on what’s going on so you can get some treatment.
One thing that I wish I’d known after the LP was that the headache can go away when you lie down in some circumstances. Mine went from extremely painful to complete pain relief within 45 minutes of lying down the first time (I had just flown home from the docs in another state). As soon as I’d lift my head a tiny bit, it would come back full force, and then dissipate again when I would put my head down. As Rhonda mentioned, you very well might not even get the headache, but if you do, make sure to stretch out flat and deal with doctors and treatment options from that position. One person talked about caffeine therapy on another thread on post LP headache, which included a caffeine IV in the ER, so make sure you have plenty of caffeinated drinks on hand. However, please try not to get ahead of yourself..if a LP is indeed scheduled at some point, then you can make these sorts of arrangements at that point. I know all these tests and what-ifs can be overwhelming, so just try to take things one step at a time.
I hope your MRI goes well today, and you are on the road to getting some answers.
Sunny
