Hi.  My name is Andrea.  I'm 28 years old and work full-time as a veterinary technician.  I've been on the fibromyalgia forum for about a year but have some questions about MS.  Here's my story: I was diagnosed (dx) with human parvovirus B19 on Oct 31st, 2007.  I had chronic moderate to severe pain in my entire body for about 6 months prior to going to a rheumy and being dx with parvo.  My rheumy said because it's a virus it should go away in a few weeks, maybe a few months, tops.  Well, it's been over a year and my bloodwork still shows elevated IgG and IgM levels.  Then, my rheumy dx me with fibromyalgia in March of last year.  I've been on prednisone, flexeril, vicodin, ibuprofen, celebrex, etc... and nothing seems to help.  Recently, over the past 3 months or so, I've been experiencing different syptoms.  My vision is becoming blurred (just had an eye exam 6 months ago), almost double vision at times.  I've been very "wobbly" on my feet, running into things (like the wall), seeing things that aren't there, weird muscle contractions (legs, feet, arms, hands) and severe pain in my legs (especially my hips).  I'm changing rheumy's - getting a 2nd opinion.  Just wondering what everyone's symptoms were before they were dx.  My appt with the new rheumy isn't until Feb 25th, so I have to suffer until that time.  Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi F/P Girl,

Welcome to the MS board. I am sorry you are not feeling well. MS symptoms are varied and shared by many other diseases. Certainly some of your symptoms are MS-ish. Most of us are diagnosed by neurologists but your rheumotologist may be a place to start.

My presenting symptom was severe vertigo. I have many symptoms now, chronic vertigo, bowel and bladder issues, balance issues, spasticity in lower legs, numbness an lower leg/feet and so on.

You may want to post on the Lyme board as well. We share many things with people infected with chronic lyme. I hope you can get some answers soon and that you are feeling better with time or treatment.

Welcome and I am sorry about your symptoms. Maybe you should see a neurologist about your problem or have you? I do know that before I was Dx with MS I saw 5 doctors who didn't really want to give me any type of Dx. They all thought I was just too tired or it was all in my head. Finally, after 2 years I found a doctor who actually listened to me and sent me to a neuro who finally Dx me with MS.. It was a big relief to finally know what my problem really was. Hi Andrea, We sound similar! I have Fibromyalgia and am confident that is one thing I have! Lyrica has helped with effexor, Cymbalta's now approved to but made me sick. So muscle pain is gone but....I have severe bone and joint pain especially in hips as well! I have not been dx with MS but am in testing process with nuero. I also had 5 days vision problems corrected with steroid drops, feel drunk, light headed, hung over constantly. Headaches coming on now, some vomiting flu symptoms the list goes on! Get into Nuero to make sure MRI is okay. My symptoms have progressed over las 6 months and am currently house bound except dr.'s visits, out on short term disability. Keep us posted! HI there,

How would you ask your doctor to send you to a neurologist, you see, I am afraid that my doctor thinks that I am a hypochondriac, I dont think that I am, with the pain I am feeling right now, its got to be something, so with a whole slew of symptoms, and no diagnosis, how do you ask to see a neurologist?
