Question about behavior

My wife has MS and she seems to act more out of control as time goes on.  Is this normal?  My father in law told me her mother would act pretty crazy(she had ms also).  I work at night.  My wife has been sneaking out, cheating on me, doing drugs, lieing A LOT, getting mad at nothing, yells at my daughter a lot.  Is extremely selfish and disrespectful. She seems to be taking steps backward in terms of maturity.  We have known each other since we were teenagers.  Our marriage is on the brink.  I'm about to leave her.  Is it possible this behavior has nothing to do with MS?  We were very close at one point and I would never expect her to do the things she is doing.  I need some advice.  My world is falling apart.

Sounds like you are dealing with a very difficult situation! I am not trying to diagnose or give medical information about your situation and be aware I am only speaking from personal experience. At a very progressive time with my MS I was diagnosed after I sought out answers with Bipolar. I am aware that there is a connection between the two. I have a strong family history of Bipolar as well. I recognized my own behavioral changes which made things easier with our situation. After a very difficult several years and many stress management techniques my situation is much much improved. I had many of the same emotional symptoms you have described as well as thoughts that were not acted upon. Don't know if sharing this will help you, but I wish you all the best.

I have definately heard about an increase in lack of control - anger flares & irritability. I found I was much more irritable and inclined to overreact, not my normal pattern and quite uncontrollable. Since I have a baclofen pump I do not feel that way. Not only does Baclofen ease my spasticity & pain but seems to generally lessen emotional intensity. Might be worth trying oral baclofen? Another thought is that maybe it is her way of dealing with MS though crazily self destructive I know.
