how many of you have been tested for APS?

I'm doing some researching for myself and came across some info that tweaked my interest. I have APS (antiphospholipid syndrome). APS presents very similar symptoms to MS. In fact, on an MRI the lesions are the same. A lot of people have been misdiagnosed with MS, when they actually have APS.

Anyone know if they've been tested for APS? A simple blood test is all that's needed. Just some food for thought.

Yup, I was tested.  It was added to a bunch of blood tests to look for infection, HIV, etc.

Hey Gretchen,

So are you positive for APS?

I had my MRI yesterday. I'm in rough shape. The optic neuritis is back I think. After 2 infusions of solumedrol, things seemed to improve but I have pain behind that right eye again today. I'll get my results back next Tuesday.

From what I'm reading and researching, this could definitely be MS, or APS. For some reason they mimick each other.

No, I am negative for APS.  I was negative for everything hence the MS diagnosis.  I had the oligoclonal bands in my CSF.  That along with the evoked potentials, the lesions, the failed neuro exam sealed it for me. 

I am sorry you ended up having to do that solumedrol.  Not fun eh?  I am worried that the pain is back!!!  Not good!  Keep me posted.

I tested positive for the anticardiolipin antibodies.

I am however still waiting for a diagnoses.  I go to see a nuerologist this Friday...
