Most of the things that I normally ate contained aspartame... low fat/ fat free foods.
I was diagnosed with MS late last year (28 years old). Four weeks ago (on a Tuesday), while drinking a Diet Dr Pepper (having chewed several pieces of sugarfree Trident that day) while sitting at my desk at work, my body started to contort in a way I have never experienced... this lasted maybe 1 minute, it took me out of my loafer shoes. I loss control. This has never happened. I didnt attribute to the drink or gum or aspartame. I was afraid that this was a new symptom developing.
One week later (on a Monday), I had a half bottle of Dr. Dr Pepper again arond 4pm. On my way driving from work (5pm) I felt the same symptom occur again. I was in traffic and had to pull over (luckly I was near the side)... otherwise I wouldnt have made it and wouldnt have had much control to drive there. Again, I was so afraid, but remembered the pattern... that these were the only 2 days in so long that I had drank the soda, as well as chewing a lot of gum (as usual), eating fat free yogurt for breakfast... all containing aspartame.
I got home and looked up artificaial sweetener in relation to MS symptoms. I recalled hearing something about it in the past. There I received the answer I was expecting... ASPARTAME!!!
I havent had aspartame since and haven had the horrible symptom since either. I'm 100% convinced and I have never studied labels as I do now! I am off that stuff for life. And I plan to keep my 11 month old off that crap too!
Do your research! Heal well! :)
