   Hello...first time posting but have been reading for a couple months.

  Was diagnosed December 2006. My first symptom was Optic Neurtis. Blurry Vision in left eye, double vision and eye pain.As well as fatigue, depression and minor numbness in my left hand.  My symptoms lasted 6 weeks and I went into remission. The one symptom that has lasted is the chronic pain in my left eye. Some days it is o.k but others (like today) are really bad.

  Has anyone experianced this? Should I make an appointment to see a doctor?

I'm a real wimp about my eyes. I'll put up with most anything else..but if my eyes are doing something strange, I'm in front of a doctor, just to be sure there's nothing more seriously wrong (than what I already know is MS-related stuff). So if you have any doubts, call the doctor. It might be a re-occurance of the optic neuritis. Either way, maybe he can offer something for the discomfort.

Welcome to the board!! Wow...eye pain...i can sympathize with u on that one. I'm like Uppity, can't take eye pain...but i can't take much pain anyway...real wimp. ;) If ur suffering with pain i'd certainly see an eye doc or u'r neuro. There are so many meds avail to help ease things and make u'r life better. At least let the doc know about this and give them the chance to help.

I'm so glad u've found the board and hope u'll find support and help here. This is a great community and lots of wonderful people here...feel free to ask any questions u'd like. Also, we have live chats on Mondays at 6:00pm (cst) each week. I hope we'll see u there! Again, welcome to the board. Let us know how u'r eye pain gets to be and what the doc says.

Mine started exactly like that 6 years ago. I was dx Dec 06 with MS. I do have optic neuritis. My left eye sometimes feel like just a sore muscle. Like when you exercise to much and your muscles are sore. Whenn this happens, and it is not all the time, i have a real hard time looking to the left or right (with out turning your head you know?) It hurts real bad.Also to the touch too. Like if you rub your eye. Ouch! I'm glad you posted b/c this is another symptom i have that i didn't realize could be this ugly disease. Thanks for that. Are there any meds for optic neuritis? Maybe an eye drop or something. Interested in going for my yearly eye exam now. I never went to an MD eye doc. only a optician or what ever you call them, (he wasn't an MD)I have really bad vision in the effected eye also. Hum. Interesting. Well nice to meetcha! Stop bye the chat on mondays it is so fun, great group of people.I would go to the doc! I have to wait till oct b/c of my insurance is only once a year.

In a nutshell, eye pain sucks. I've had it off and on for a few years and have gone to optometrist who said I did not have optic neuritis.
Last week, due to increasing "floaters" and some type of "static" (that is the only way I can explain what I see), my dr sent me to an opthamologist. He discovered that a have a nevus or mole inside my eyeball. What a shock to me. I'm going to University of Penn Hospital on Thursday to an oncologist to get it checked out, measured and photographed. My dr said he is sure it is benign but we'll have to keep an eye (no pun intended) on it for a while. I'm not sure if that is what is causing the visual disturbance as none of my dr's know what I'm talking about.

Can you see the mole? I have a red spot in my eye for as long as i can remember, i think i always had it? I have to ask my mom now.it is somewhat on the colored part of my eye and in part my white of the eye. My eye doc said it was a fatty deposit or something but im scared now. He said my optic neuritis was lazy eye, so is this something else too?so can this spot be someting like what you have i'm wondering.

No, you can't see it - it's actually inside my eyeball. YUCK!
I've been doing some research and it's just like a freckle or mole on your skin, which if not observed for any changes, may turn into melenoma. It is rare, but can happen. Mine is very large and is the reason he wanted me to see a specialist, even though he said it appeared to be benign.

I'm also kind of worried now about this "visual static" that I see. I think I saw something about visual snow but couldn't find it. I only see it when I look at something white or very dark and it's in both eyes. I'll talk to the dr tomorrow about that as well.

Well, the nevus (mole) does not appear to be malignant so that is good news. The dr said that it is very large so we need to keep watch. I have to go back twice a year to see him for 2 years and then once a year thereafter. They took some pictures inside my eye today and in August I go back for a check up and an ultrasound.
He said that the odds of this turning malignant are 1 in 7000 so I am a little more relieved.

i spokw with my mom and she claims i've had this for ever since she can remember, so thats good i think. i have a real hard time with white surfaces also, i can actually see this spot in my eye if it is very bright outside, i can sort of follow it its weird. Its actually happening right now b/c this screen is so white and bright. Strange, just one of the many,lol.Good Luck at the doc, and i hope you feel well soon. Take care.
