I've been taking lyrica 100 mg twice daily. It's not working well. What meds are available? I know of neurontin. Any others? I need to switch to something that will help. I can't stand much more of the burning in my feet and legs.

neuro pain is the worst-- i have the ms hug/girdle and have pain in my arms torso (ribs abdommen) and my whole back-- i don't take an actual "pain" med but i am on klonopin for anxiety and noticed it helps with my neuro pain-- -- ask your doc about klonopin -- low side effects too--

Hi Madlou,

 

    Burning pain can be difficult to treat sometimes.  Neurontin and Lyrica seem to be the most commonly prescribed for it but there are others.   Elavil, Tegretol, and Trileptal are a few others that my husband has tried.  I hope you get some relief soon!

I'm sorry, can't offer anything new, but can tell u that i have pain in my legs that's gotten worse over the last few weeks. I take neurontin and it's working great. I have had to take more at a time lately, but even then it's great. Take care and let us know how u are.

I've got an appt with neuro on Monday. But he won't prescribe meds. I'll have to see my pcp in order to switch to the neurontin. I really don't want to take anything that's going to make me sleepy or stoned. I have a ful time job and I can't help my clients if my brain is in a fog. Thanks for the advice. I think I was originally on neurontin but liked the idea of lyrica because I only had to take it twice a day. Wonder why it just stopped working? Have any of you tried alternatives, such as bilberry extract?

Have you tried cranio-sacro treatments- they are much like a massage but they help my apin and usually hold for a week.  They keep my pain minimal cause i don't like drugs that make me foggy either

my mom's friend does them but i am sure there are many people trained in it is new and up and coming-- it is a massage centered around the nervous system actually so it sort of suits ms-- not sure where you are from but you could ask around or i will ask the woman who does me if she knows how to find people that do it--

another thing i have tried that i got positive results from is reflexology-- that concentrates on the feet and reiki which is energy healing has been amazing

Thanks! I live in southeast Michigan. i looked on line and found one D.O. in my area. And I think I know a kinesiologist who does this kind of work. I will also ask the massage therapist I work with if he's familiar with practitioners in our area. I'd like not to have to drive to Ann Arbor for treatment. As it is my neurologist is in Toledo and the clinic I'm looking at transferring to is in Ann Arbor. All that traveling means taking off work.

Just as a FYI I started taking bilberry two capsules three times a day and my feet already feel better than they have in weeks. I swear it has to be this herb making the difference.
