So I called my neurologist and went in for an appointment on Thursday eventhough i wasnt supposed to see him until the end of May.  But I have been in soooo much pain everyday eventhough I am on 2 nerve pain meds.  Plus one of the meds has made me gain about 25 pounds!  Then I have been having new symptoms, such as bladder control issues (which I posted a bulletin about), uncontrolled reflexes, numbing of the face, memory/conversation issues etc.  So when I went to the doc he said that he was very worried about me and he ordered another MRI.  He is booked solid until the end of August but he told his scheduling lady to squeeze me in before the end of April because it is very important.  He didnt say anything really except that he needs to see another MRI report and that I am too young to be having so many problems (I am 24).  So I am really worried now.  He changed my meds, increasing one and he is slowly getting me off of the one that is making me gain weight. 

Then his office called yesterday and said that my insurance denied the request for an MRI.  So she is going to resubmit it and call me back on Monday.  So that really sucks!  I might have to call my insurance and explain the situation to them.....

I am just really worried.  My doc also told me that if he cannot find out what is causing everything with this next MRI that he is going to send me to the clinic at UCLA.  Which I hope it doesnt come to that because that means my husband and I will have to take time off of work, pay for traveling, hotel, etc.  We CANNOT afford that!

Sorry to babble on,  I just needed to get my worries out and I know you guys will understand what I am going through!

Elaina,

I am so sorry about your health and insurance problems!!!  I know that the extra expense can be a huge problem.  Money ( or the lack of ) can cause such stress.  

On another note,  I see a doctor at the UCLA MS clinic and I just love her!!!  If you want her name, email me.

Hi Elaina,

 

Wow, it’s hard enough to deal with health problems without adding that extra stress of fighting the insurance companies. I hope your doc can get this resolved for you quickly, so you can get that MRI. I’m sorry you’re feeling so poorly. Hang in there, and please do come back and give us an update.

sorry about that my post got sent before i finished. I know right now its hard and frustrating, especially dealing with ins. companies, but try to stay positive. I hope things work out for you. I know what you are going threw i am also 24 and it is alot to take on.

Well my insurance approved the MRI after a little persuasion from my doctor's office.  So I made the appointment for the MRI on the 18th.  It is really weird that I have to wait that long becuase when I called to make appointments for my last 2 MRIs I got in that week.  But at least it isnt months away.  So I called my doctor to make an appointment with them and the lady said she can't squeeze me in until the end of May.  I told her that I already had an appointment scheduled for the end of May but that my doctor doesn't want me to wait that long.  So she has to talk to the doctor and see what he wants to do and then she is going to call me back.  If its not one thing its another isnt it!

ooooooohhh I want to live in Nevada!!!!  I live in Southern Cailfornia but I plan on retiring out of state.  Nevada is one we are considering.  I absolutely love the Minden/Gardnerville area!!!!  It is beautiful and I love the climate.  It is lovely and dry (not humid/dry like we discussed in chat - actually dry!! lol).

Well we don't live in a city I like!  We live in a city that is waaaaaay too big and has too many tourists!  I want to move somewhere that will be a safer place for our daughter and where there isnt so much stress when driving.  There is always traffic here no matter if its 2 am or 2 pm.  The only nice thing is that there are so many stores open 24 hours.  So if you ever need anything its easy to get!  The first time my husband went back to Michigan with me he was amazed that gas stations close at night.  He was like what if you need gas?  He was raised here is Vegas so he was shocked to be in a place that wasnt centered around casino workers and tourists!  the weather here is nice.  I just wish we had a longer spring.  It went from 40 degrees to 80 degrees with not many days in between!
