Hi everyone hoping you can advise me. Not dx'd with MS, but suspect it. I am having blurred vision and eyes feel like burning, painful, a little gritty. I had this in November and it progressed to where I had to call in to work, it was like looking through a filmy layer on left side but both eyes involved. This progressed over 5 days-went to GP and he gave me steroid drops and it went away, actually I had no pain with it but now I do. I need advice: do I find an opthamologist, I have steroid drops left but a dx of optic nueritis may help to confirm MS. Won't go to my GP again as I'm changing dr's. Thanx for your help!

Brownie,

Go to an opthalmologist.  Most of the time, they can see inflammation in the optic nerve and can diagnose optic neuritis.  If the Dr. doesn't see the inflammation but suspects ON, then they will order an MRI which will most definitely show ON.  Remember that ON is not MS.  Many people with MS develop optic neuritis but this condition can also stand alone.

Hi Brownie,

I'm sorry about your troubles! After being shuffled around for years, and Ophthalmologist was actually the one who made the MS discovery and started me on the right track. I would go see one as soon as you can.

Thanx sooo much guys! I've made an appointment but can't get in until Monday but at least my eyes don't hurt as bad as yesterday. Have MRI Thurs. Then results next week, nervous no matter what outcome. Everyday's something, pain, numbness, fatigue, I think I'm preachin' to the choir here LOL! Anyway hope everyone's having a great day!
