Cervical Spine MRI Results

Hi All

I just thought I would share my cervical spine MRI results wit you:

'There is a 14 mm x 6 mm x 7 mm volume of increased T2 signal in the cervical cord at the C6/7 level wihtout alteration in the cord morphology. There is also no associated enhancement following IV contrast adminstration. There is a similar, smaller non-enchaining abnormality at the C1 level. The study is ohterwise unremarkabke.

Conclusion: appearances are suggestive of small volumes of demyelination.' Well, that explains my Lhermitte's phenomenon.

My question is: what exactly are they looking for when they give you the IV contrast?
