Hi everyone,
my journey started about two years ago, I started having some strange visual problems, blurred vision, and a large numbers of floaters, mostly in my left eye, appeared and after about six months of them I thought it might be worth being seen (I was also pregnant when they started so I thought that might have something to do with it) when they didn't stop I went to the optometrist, who ran a bunch of tests (including evoked potential) but it all came back normal, so I moved on with life figuring it was just because my eyes were bad any way and it wasn't that big of a deal.
about four or five months later I started feeling unwell again, tired and out of it (I had a six month old, and two older kids, so at the time I didn't think much of it) then I started to drop things out of my left hand and developed a mild tremor. After a trip to the store where I found it hard to take things off of the shelf with out dropping them on the floor, I decided it was time to go to the doctors. my GP is very good and ran a whole bunch of blood work and ordered a brain MRI. Everything came back normal, my hadn still tremors and I felt weak and tired, especially my legs, but I still didn't think much of it. He did refer me to a Nuro, but it was taking for ever to get an appointment.
It was about six months, and still no Nuro appointment, I thought I was finally starting to feel better ( all of my stomptoms seem to be better, and I was starting to wonder if it had just been stress or lack of sleep.)when suddenly the vision in my left eye went double and sowly went fuzzy off and on, my hand started to tremor Again, my exausghtion got worse ( it never really went away) over the course of about a week and a half I went from being fine to having spasticity in my arm (making it draw up when relaxed) sever spasticity and pain in my legs causing a bilateral foot drop, and I started to stutter. Plus I just felt sick.
I went to see a PA at my doctors office because he wasn't available for appointments that day. After looking me over she went and spoke with my doctor and the decided to give me a stariod shot and I scheduled a appointment with my regular doctor for later that week. The shot seemed to help me feel better in general but I still had the leg spasticity and stutter.
My doctor re ran the blood work we had done earlier that year, had another brain MRI ordered also a c spine MRI. He also gave me another shot of stariod and a prescription for more steroids. Over the next week I slowly progressed back to normal with the help of the meds.
Unfortunatly every test I had came back normal. The Nuro I now have said "your brain MRI looks great, I don't even think mine would look that good." She thinks it might be some sort of rare migraines since my tests were all normal. I'm not really sure how I feel about that dx but I'll probably be trying migraine meds just in case she's right.
My legs are still stiff and I'll have "episodes" of really bad spasticity where I can't walks for several days at a time. I'm always very tired and my left arm and legs are weak, so much so that I'm getting a cane to help with my balance.I don't know if it's MS, I was tested for Lymes, that was negative but I know those tests aren't that accurate. I guess it could be the migraines but I really doubt it...
Through all this I've also had some numbness tingling, sever sharp pains through out my arms and legs and my face at times. I'm not sure if those things are common in ms or not?
It's just all so frustrating and I'm not really sure where to turn next. Has any one had completely clear MRIs and still ended up dx eventually? It's not that I want to have ms, I just want some answers!
Thanks for taking the time to read.
