I think you certainly should call your doctor while you are in the midst of what appears to be a flare...of what? Well..if they see you and test you while you're having these problems, perhaps they can get closer to what is wrong.
I know your neuro appointment is October. But there's no reason why you can't call the office, explain the situation, and see if you can be gotten in sooner. Those appointments are set with this sort of idea: "If nothing much changes, come back and see me in X months.."...but obviously in your situation, stuff IS changing.
Even if the doctor decides to wait until October for the appointment, at least you will have called and gotten the information in to your file.
As for the MS "hug": It is a "banding" sensation. That is, it feels like a squeezing in *entirely around* your torso, or around your head, or around a limb -- its a sensation affecting a muscle group that goes completely around..so not one-sided. The "snug hat" is a good description.
I'm sorry you're having so many as-yet unexplained problems!
