Owwwwieeee!! My eye hurts!

I came home from work tonight and was very tired, so I kicked back in the recliner and dozed off for awhile. As I was going to sleep, I started getting a pain in my left eye, or actually above my left eye. It feels like it's between my eye and the eye socket. The top part of my eye is very sore when I touch it through my eyelid.

It's been about four hours, and the pain is still there, even after three Advil. (I put a cold pack on my eye and it felt a bit better.) It hurts to move my eye up or down or side to side. And my vision in that eye is very blurry, even more so than normal.

Anyone know what this might be? Do you think it's optic neuritis? I have an appointment tomorrow with an MS specialist, so if the pain is still present, I'll definitely talk to her about it.

I'm sorry u'r having such pain. I have pain in my right eye very often and it's HORRIBLE!! I was advised (by someone off this board) to use heat and it did help some, but of course increased my blurry vision. I figured it was ok tho since i was only laying around holding my head anyway! ;)  I really don't suggest u do that tho. Unfortunately i can't tell u how to make it better. I just ride it out. I've tried excedrine and got up to three at a time...then one more after an hour...it didn't help. My doc's (eye docs) gave me a couple of possible dx and now (on their suggestion) i'm set to see an ENT for possible sinus probs causing the pain. I'd suggest that if u'r advised to see any other doc for this that u do it. That way u know u've been down that road and exhausted that possiblility and can then move forward. I hope u get some answers soon. U have so many symptoms. Please come back and let us know how u'r appt goes tomorrow. Take care.

Just an update, I woke up this morning and most of the pain in my eye is gone.  It lasted from around 5 p.m. until around 2 a.m.  I was also kind of nauseous from the pain last night, especially when I stood up or leaned over.  (If it had been ON, wouldn't the pain have lasted longer?) 

This morning, the vision in my left eye is very blurry.  Even with my glasses on, I can't see well out of my left eye.  It feels like there is a film over that eye and I keep trying to blink it away, but it's not clearing up.

I'll mention this to the MS specialist at my appointment today.  Thanks again for all of your help.
