Questions about husband - not diagnosed

I had written on this site awhile back about my husband.  I'll give a quick summary.  He started having dizziness in 2003.  He was training for a triathalon and would get dizzy when exercising.  He was tested for everything including his ears, heart, etc.  The ear test did show a small problem but the doctor didn't think it would cause the problems he was having.  He had an MRI and MRA and EEG in 2004.  The MRI said he had several small scattered t2 hyperintensities, but said it was non-specific.  He continued having dizziness especially when he got his heart rate elevated (when exercising) and went to a neuro in town here in August.  He also had an episode where his hands went kind of weak and he had trouble holding a pen, but it was brief and went away.  The MRI results of that one said he had several small non-specific white matter lesions.  In the doctor's report, he mentioned two spots that "lit up" on the MRI, but that he didn't think were conducive of MS.  He thinks my husband may be having mini strokes, due to his symptoms.  He isn't ruling out MS, but doesn't think the lesions indicate that or his symptoms.  WE are still concerned about it.  Anyway, last week my husband had a big "episode" where he suddenly got very hot and dizzy and his arms/hands were weak.  It only lasted about an hour and he was fine.  He didn't go to the doctor immediately which he should have.  HE currently is relocated in a different state for his job and I will be moving there in January.  THe doctor he has been seeing is located here where I live.  I called and talked to the nurse on Friday and she said that the doctor wants him to establish with a neuro in the state he is living and get an MRI done immediately.  He thinks he had a TIA (mini stroke).  We called the doc down there and he can't get in until he gets a referral and then they said he can't get in until January.  I am going to get a hold of the doc here and see if he could at least do another MRI over Thanksgiving.

My question for you is do you think the episode he had last week sounds at all like something that would happen in MS?  His recover was so quick.  It's not like it lasted 24 hours or longer.  Also, if it does sound like a stroke, how can they make him wait until January.  Any ideas on how we can get the ball rolling faster?

    Some good advice here by both ladies on how to get the ball rolling.  I do agree that he needs to be seen asap and waiting until January is not acceptable.  Hopefully, the old doctor to new doctor call will do the trick, knowing his previous history from a doctor might speed things up and get him in sooner.  The first care facility also a great suggestion if you have to go that route.   I'm sorry you have to worry from a distance, that must be very hard for both of you.  Please let us know how things progress, and know that both of you are in my thoughts.
