I don't post often, although I visit this site often. I'm still not diagnosed with anything but will be visiting my neuro again soon.  My symptoms of numbness/tingling lasted a few months and I visited a few docs that couldn't diagnose me for sure but were leaning towards MS. My symptoms disappeared for over a month and I thought I was home free.  Unfortunalely, a few days ago, my tingling sensations came back and now I feel like my leg is on fire. It's bothersome but tolerable. My question now is, are the muscle spasms that people feel usually painful? Tonight was the first time I experienced a muscle tightening in my arm. . . it lasted about 15 minutes off/on. This wasn't painful so I don't know if it's just coincidence or what. Just wondering how people with spasms feel? Thanks!

Spasms don't necessarily need to be "painful". Pain is challenging, anyway. One person's "pain" is another person's "discomfort". And sometimes what is painful one time won't be painful another time if the person's overall health has improved.

I think you should call the doctor that you most trust, tell him of your returning issues, and see if you can get in to see him while this is going on.

Be sure and write all your symptoms and questions down and have them ready when you speak with your doctor. That always helps!! Please keep us posted of your progress. We care! :)

When I was first dx (8/06) my primary pain was arm spasms and weakness. It was intense, but similar to you lasted in terms of minutes. My arms would start tingling (this was always my warning sign) then the weakness/heaviness would kick in, followed by tight intense painful spasms. I could not drive, wash my hair, write, etc. This would last anywhere from 15 - 45 minutes, then it would subside, I would regain the use of my arms and hands and then later in the day it would happen again, multiple times every single day all through the day.

So for me it was painful, I would not describe it as discomfort, just sheer pain and I have a high pain tolerance, but it was painfulllllll. I don't miss that symptom at all. Of course now it's my legs that do all that.. ughhhh.
