I've been on here for a while but been missing most the summer b/c it has been a hard hard summer. I have come here several times for help and advice and it has been so so helpful so here I go again....I have MS. Been diagnosed since 2/06. I'm 30..about 3 times this month I have hallucinated. It has always been in the middle of the night in an almost dreamlike state. I can tell it is a hallucination, I am aware that what I am seeing is not there. Like last night I had this feeling in my head (can't quite describe it) kind of a mini explosion and I saw the wallpaper that I had as a child all over the walls. Obviously this is not a good thing but maybe it is a medication thing? I am scared b/c is this a sign that my brain is just deteriorating fast? I took my baclofen and half a vicodin yesterday b/c the pain was that bad. What do you all think? I will ask my doc but I am just wondering has anyone ever had this b4......? Thanks in advance for any input!
These are among the things you might want to ask your doctor:
1) could it be a drug interaction? (Not all drugs work the same way for people. And are you on anything else, including over-the-counter meds or herbal supplements that might be involved with a strange interaction?)
2) Could you be experiencing seizures? (They don't have to be dramatic loss-of-consciousness kinds of seizures.)
3) Could you be having sleep disturbances, and not fully waking up, so you're in a sort-of dream state? Again this could be medicine related.
4) The pain...I know everyone's pain threshold is different, but maybe there is something more going on that you're suffering from what you describe as "bad pain". Perhaps the doctor needs to find out what is causing that and treat it differently.
I've not heard of hallucinations and MS, but anything is possible. I'd probably explore these more common reasons first.
