MRI head and cervical neck clear - no chance of MS?

Hi, I've had a cervical spine and head MRI (no contrast injected) and they were clear.  Chest x-ray also clear.  NCV legs and arms all clear as well.  Does this mean that my chances of having MS are zero/ close to zero?  I know you can get lesions in spine as well, but I wondered how common they are.  I am waiting on results of evoked potentials tests, but I thought I'd ask you guys about the MRI since you're the experts!!

You have lots of good test results that certainly point to not having MS.  I am happy to hear that!  I am sure you have a lot to manage with crohn's.  I don't know what NCV is?  What does that stand for?  The only other test that might reveal something would be a lumbar puncture but many docs won't ask for that if you aren't showing lesions.   Good luck on your evoked potentials test.  My evoked potentials were very revealing and the tech let me see the results immediately.  So go with the no news is good news until you hear otherwise.  Keep us posted.

OK so I looked up the NVC.  Nerve conduction velocity test.  This seems a lot like the evoked potential for me.  I don't really understand the difference in them but that evoked potential tests all the way to the brain and NVC is one site on the nerve to another site on the nerve.  It seems like a redundant test if the evoked potentials is being done.  My evoked potentials tested for lower extremities, vision and hearing.  Wow, I am rambling. Sorry!  I learned that from Sunny.

thanks gretchen.  i am treating no news as good news so far!  I am just a bit nervous waiting for my next appt. and the neuro is playing his cards close to the vest - i have no clue what he's testing for.

Hi crohn'snz,

 

   I wanted to wish you luck with your upcoming doctor appointment and results of your EVP test.  Spinal lesions are a little less common than brain lesions and your cervical was clear.  You can also get lesions in the thorasic region of the spine but with everything coming up clean at this point they might not even test that or do a lumbar puncture.  Let us know what you find out, hang in there.

Here's my feeling on this, don't take their word for any of it, get the dictation report as I did, get it in writting. And also now I realize how ever so important it is to have a doctor that works with you not against you. There's alot of doctors out there and they can be replaced with a little research and talking with others and getting a referral. When something goes wrong at the house, do you call just anyone or start talking with some of your neigbors and optaining referals, that's how I feel from now on and will not settle for anything less now I have learned the hard way. We need to be heard and taken seriously, it's our body's not theirs and it's our money, not theirs.
