Stoma flush with skin

I have a temporary ileostomy that is now 7 weeks. My stoma has been shrinking down, which I understand is normal. It is flush with my skin, and I am using the convex Coloplast wafers. Even though, the skin right below the stoma is getting really raw because no matter what I do, stool just keeps laying against the skin. I use the Eakin seals, Stomadhesive powder and paste,but the opening to the stoma is right there. Any suggestions? the rest of my skin looks good. Should I contact the wound care nurse at the hospital? I am finished with my home health nurse, so I am not sure if it is really a problem or not.

my stoma is flush at the bottom, and raised 1/2 inch at the top. so i know what you are going through. the stool kept seeping into the seal, causing it to leak. i was changing the bag every day, and it was so raw that it was bleeding. i found a stoma nurse local to us and she fitted me with a hollister convex bag. no wafers, no paste, just the convex bag. It made my stoma pop up enough at the bottom to allow the stool to avoid the seal. I slept in the recliner for a while to keep the stool off the seal at night. I hope this helps...

A convex insert works great for me too. It pops right inside the wafer so that I didn't have to buy a lot of new wafers. I was able to use the stock I had on hand without spending money on new wafers.
