Ash, It sounds like you've got it all going in the right direction. Dont rush it. How old are you, and how long ago did you have your ostomy surgery?  You dont have to start trying in four months. If it takes you 6months or even a year. It will be worth it. Not just for you, but the baby too.
I've got two children. The first one i ate healthy. The second one i ate like a pig,and all junk. Sugar, caffine, you name it. Guess which one turned out hyperactive, and the hard to control kind? Yep, the second one. Be careful what you feed this little one while your pregnant. Your appetite will increase when you get pregnant, so dont worry about that. It will stretch, trust me. I was up in the middle of the night eating.

Your on the right path, just keep it up.

i've had to gain weight having uc in the past and here's what worked for me. don't be afraid of fat, it's not all bad and eating stuff with good fats won't make you flabby. just have real fat, not transfats and fake stuff. avacados, 2% or whole milk, butter, eggs, cheese, nut products, etc. i know you probably can't eat nuts with your ostomy but before i had one i cooked muffins with almond flour and they would put on weight pretty quickly. also, almond milk is great or peanut butter. if you like chicken, you could get chicken thighs to cook with instead of breasts, they are so much better in my opinion and have more calories. i would also add coconut oil to my smoothies, which i know sounds so bad to some people but lots of athletes do it because it is a great source of energy and calories. do you juice at all? i need to get back at it again, but before i got pregnant and during the first trimester (before my uc flare) i juiced a lot of greens and would mix in a couple carrots and an apple. it made me feel so good to get all those vitamins and i knew i was doing something so good for the baby. i'm pretty adamant about using organic, but that is a matter of preference i guess. i've been eating pretty bad lately because people have been bringing us meals to help us out and they all know i need to gain weight so it's been a lot of starch and sugar. i totally have appreciated all of the help, but i definately miss healthy food and as soon as the meal deliveries are over and i can drive myself to the grocery store, i'm getting back to it. also, getting sleep is so important- i let you know what worked for me on your other post about insomnia. good luck and good for you for thinking ahead. you're right, 4 months will be here before you know it:)
