Is it safe to assume that if there is a measurement guide on the back of the wafer that it is cut-to-fit? I have a bunch of samples and I have no idea what wafer goes with what bag. I have New Image and another kind. I'm assuming the tan rings on the wafers pair up with the tan rings on the bags. I'm assuming all of these wafers are cut-to-fit also.

For those of you that use the New Image cut-to-fit, is the area you cut away from the wafer pretty sturdy? I'm so used to Convatec's wafers, and the moldable feel it has to it. The New Image wafers seem SO thin too. I'm almost nervous to put one on. I feel like I'm doing something wrong!

You don't HAVE to place it in a diamond. I've done both and alternate just to give my skin a change. It really makes no difference in my opinion. Try both and see what you prefer.

Yes, Hollister wafers have measurement guides that you can cut to fit. They come with a measurement guide. Measre yourself and if you're between sizes, place the guide over the wafer and trace before you cut.

Re: your mismatched bags - If the plastic ring on the bag snaps into the ring on the wafer - you've got a match. I use NEW IMAGE as well. They are very sturdy and work well. I always use a barrier ring underneath. I've used Hollister rings and currently use Eacon rings.

I'm actually scared to try the moldable Convatec wafers (have some samples)!!!

If you're nervous about trying something new, do it on a day that you'll be at home so that if you hate it or have problems you won't be out and about. ;)

Thanks for the info baggirl. Do you know why they suggest placing the wafer in a diamond shape? Is it just me or are the New Image wafers REALLY thin. The entire wafer is smaller than Convatec's wafers, which is what I usually use.

Do you use cut-to-fit? Do you keep that plastic backing on it to cut? Also, the wafer itself is more rubbery-like than smoosh-able if that makes sense.

For example, my nurse always told me after I was done cutting the wafer(Convatec's) to smooth the edges out. I can't really do that with the New Image because it's not the same texture. Make any sense?

i understand what ur saying ash, i wonder how u got a bunch of samples hollister only sent me three bags, and theyr 1 pieces and very thin.
bag girl...let me know how those moldable's go...they seem like a great idea and i was going to order them. but i'm wondering y ur nervous about trying them? i didnt know they sent out samples of those

I always assumed that they suggest the diamond shape to avoid the navel area. It seems like if it was too close to the belly button, it might not seal well. But that's just a guess.
