Help: Cramping Discomfort & Burping - Partial Blockage?

What does a partial blockage feel like?

I've had an ileostomy for 5 months with no trouble and the last few days I've had pretty intense cramping all up my back (upper and lower) and throughout my stomach. This feeling has been on and off and is worse when I'm inactive. I've also been burping quite a bit which is abnormal for me. I'm having normal output and zero pain around the stoma. No nausea or vomiting but cold sweats. Can't figure out what it might be?

I was diagnosed with Chrone's but only had disease in the colon. Could this be disease/inflammation traveling up into my small intestine?

It's quite painful and I can't sleep - any suggestions?

I agree with Peggy, I would call your GI, us ostomates are more prone to kidney stones, how is your urine output/color? If you are in pain, you need to let your doc know.

Maybe adhesions? Although I'm not sure about the back pain relating to adhesions.

I hope the pain goes away and your doctor has an answer for you!

XRay showed no blockage..the Dr. thinks it's just muscle spasms....SHURUG.
I have doubts!

Still in pain! Urgh. I saw a chiropractor and that helped. Used a massager - that helped too. I thought it was pancreatitis. It looks like it's not 'bag' related.....I just always assume EVERYTHING is 'bag' related since it's the obvious place to start looking. ;)

So my family dr. said he thought the pain was just muscle spasms. My chiropractor adjusted me, I used a massager and felt GREAT! The whole next day I was a little sore but fine. RIGHT after dinner - BOOM it came back. Now I'm having the urgency to go to the bathroom and lots of fresh blood is coming out. I have that brick in the stomach feeling when I drink water so I'm CONVINCED I'm either having a UC attack in my remaining rectal cuff or a first time Chrone's attack in my small intestine. I never had back pain when I had a colon...does this ring any bells????


I suppose it could just be diaherra....none of my specialists are available so I might end up in EMERG.

Thanks for your reply Richard. ;) I went to EMERG. Sat there for 6 hours - saw the GI on call (what a freaking waste of time) Urine/Blood word came back normal. He couldn't find anything to match ALL my symptoms (aside from the back and stomach pain and bloating I now have the urgency to poop and when I sit on the can I get blood) He thinks I have (a) a colitis/chrone's flare up in the remaining rectal cuff and (b) something problem with my gallbladder

He sent me to get an ultrasound through my GP to rule out the gallbladder idea. Will have to get that done. I will bring up the idea of kidney stones to my GP...the pain DOES seem to come around after I eat...especially if I eat alot. I have been feeling a need to drink lots of water lately...
