After my reversal, I am no longer in need of some of the eakin seals, a dozen flanges and pouches, etc. I can't return them because the boxes were opened. Any suggestions? Should I call the Home care nurse and see if she needs them, or if anyone lives on the east side of Cleveland, perhaps you can use them.

Donating left over supplies to your traveling ET nurse is an excellent way to give back. They in turn can give this to patients as samples to see if they work before purchase.

donut thats a nice thing to do. there was a post about donating supplies not too long ago. there's some sort of foundation or something i believe that gives the supplies to those with financial problems. I dont know how to effectively search the archives, but i know it was n the last month or so.

So ur still feeling good? things are back to normal? im happy for u

I am not sure what hospital you use, but I am a patient at the Cleveland Clinic and I asked a similar question at my last appointment.

There is a gentleman that picks up supplies from the ET nurses there and distributes them to local people who are unable to afford their supplies.  With my last surgery, all my products changed and I am in the same position with opened boxes, and will drop them off to benefit someone!

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I will contact the nurse and she can probably hook me up with someone. She works out of the Cleveland Clinic so that will be perfect! I am doing very well since my reversal. I plan to go back to teaching after spring break in a week and a half. I still need to put my feet up and relax during the day..it's going to take some time to get my energy back. Biggest problem since the reversal is trying to get my colon back to normal. I am slowly adding fiber back into my diet and I am getting a lot of gas pains up into my stomach. I guess it is just going to take some time for everything to start working the way it should.

donut i didnt know u were a teacher! what do u teach? i have my degree in English with teaching cert. I got offered a job right b4 all this craziness with my body started. I've been so afraid to teach now, with the pain at first, now with the bag, i hope after my reversal i'll be able to go back like you. I miss it sooo much. Ur an inspiration. I hope u get back to yourself soon!

Hi praying! I teach elementary learning disabilities...this is my 32nd year of teaching and I can hardly wait to get back. I am sure that I could have gone back with that bag, but since I was still healing from the abcess, I didn't really feel that great until it was time for the reversal. Now that I am feeling better, I will be glad to get back to the school routine. With only a few months left, you will have all summer to get healthy and then get teaching next fall! It is a great profession!
