I am bagless! The reversal surgery went well. I just got some clear liquids this morning. I have a lot of pain when standing, so that hasn't been fun. But I'm doing great otherwise. I keep having phantom bag feelings- I keep feeling like my bag is full and needs emptying, then I realize I don't have one anymore. Ack!!

Yep, I had phantom ileostomy sensations too.  It goes away after a few weeks.  Contratulations on your new plumbing!

Glad to hear your reversal went well. Keep me posted on your recovery. I'm hopefully, going to have my reversal in a few months. My loop ileostomy was only to be for 3 months that was July 2007. Had complications after my first reconstructive surgery. By my third, they decided I better get an ileostomy. Let me know how long you were in the hopspital, what kind of meds they give you, etc... That way I'll know what to expect.

Phantom bag feelings? That's something I could get over really fast. I am so happy for you and your new plumbing. Hope you will continue to feel better and better.

Hmmm... I wonder how common PBS (Phantom Bag Syndrome) is with newly bagless patients?  rolleyes

I am doing fabulous! I am happier everyday. I am eating very close to a regular diet. I even had ice cream for desert last night after a big meal of Chicken enchiladas. That was less than a week after my surgery! I can go 4-5 hours between neededing a restroom, and have almost no urgency. Pretty much, it's like how I felt having my ileosotomy, only without an ileosotomy. I am feeling really lucky and blessed, actually. Thanks for thinking of me!

Your progress has really encouraged me. I'm looking forward to having my reversal. I can't believe how quickly you were eating normal food. That's wonderful news. Keep us posted.

By the way, how long did you have your ileostomy before your reversal? I've heard the longer you have one, the longer your recovery. I'm wondering just how true that is.

I had my ileostomy for almost exactly a year. Which isn't forever, but it's not your typical few months, either!

Hi my husband is having himself scoped tomorrow to see if he is a candidate for a reversal.He has a eliostomy.for about 6 months. I hope he gets the surgery cause he is so tired of the bag and it leaking all the time and having to change it so often. wish him your prayers
