It really is a matter of what works for your body. Some of us use a 2 piece system, some a 1 piece, others need convexity, clips, no clips, etc. What you really should do is get various samples and try them out. Also, if you are a really new ostomate your stoma /belly are probably still going to shrink a wee bit. It is always hard at first to find the bag that works for you and that you are comfy with--good luck.
I couldn't agree more!
19 years ago the hospital "gave" me a few boxes of the Convatec 2 piece system. I tried them for a while, then experimented with a variety of others. 'Funny thing is I went back to the Convatec 2 piece system. Again, it's a matter of taste and lifestyle. But, to me, I found the Convatec pouches to be the least bulky(I've been using them steadily now for most of 19 years, so there might be others that are just as good). Plus I have NEVER had a pouch burst.I don't mind the clip, because theirs is the smallest clip I've used. I found the clip to be best for those that play a lot of sports and lead a generally active lifestyle. When I tried the type with Velcro(I can't remember the brand)the end would weap on those days when I was particularly active. Plus I found them to be messy when I had to empty. I'll probably never switch to anything else. It's funny how "attached" we get to our appliances..... no pun intended!!!
