colonoscopy prep for ileostomy ( please help!)

ok guys, so im scheduled for a colonoscopy monday and i'm praying that there will be good news. my gastro did one w/out me being prepped (he forgot i still had my colon!) and he told my surgeon it looked bad and he's suggesting that i get my rectum removed! aaah no! this was supposed to be temporary and i still believe that it is....

n e who, so i have to take this fleet enema. The thought is really freaking me out. Since i've been diagnosed, I've always had skin tags,fistulas, and fissures back there which made rectal exams impossible. So i'm trying to figure out if n e one has taken this prep? how long did it take? how far up does it go? and most importantly, how badly does it hurt? I have to prep my self sunday and i'm scared. but i wanna do it right because i want the doc to get a good look.  N e help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated

Have had many fleet enemas and they are not painful, just uncomfortable. But I have none of your fistulas etc so I really couldn't compare. RELAXING is the best advice, although who can relax when stuff is going in your behind?!?!
I don't understand how you are expected to do this since rectal exams were impossible before. What are they thinking? I was in a lot of pain and the dr. actually had me come into the hospital and have a nurse do it the first time I had one. The last one I took I was unable to get as much in as I would have liked (like you, wanted to be cleared as much as possible for the dr.'s to have a good look) but it wasn't a problem. It's tough trying to hold it in there!! You have to try to hold it in there for about 10 minutes I think, at the longest.
Good luck. I'm sure you've been through much nastier stuff though.

I had to take this sulfate enima every night for 2 months to try and get my colon and rectum to be coated to help it heal....i would lay on the bed on my back and insert it...they nozle does have lubricant on it so that it slides in pretty easily and i have outter hemroids you could hang a picture on the hang out so far....and managed....good luck

I wish you luck at your appointment. I am here for you. I may not have an ileostomy, but I ahd to have a colonsocpy, and the prep is crazy. When I got mine done, that is when they did a sitz-marker and found out I need a total colonoscopy. Keep us updated, and please tell us how it went. I wish you good luck and I hope everything goes well.
