I like to take an afternoon nap on my back on the sofa.
Five months post ostomy I've started to waken after an hour with pain under the wafer at the three o'clock position. It feels like someone is poking with a needle. I sometimes get it at night but not as bad, but at night I rotate from side to side as well as on my back.
The only thing I can think of is the stoma retracts when I'm on my back and the rest of the time it protrudes. Why this would cause pain I don't know.
I described it at my last appt. to both the stoma nurse and the phys. asst. who supposedly asked my surgeon. The nurse had no explanation and the PA just told me to nap in bed where I could roll around. I'm due for a reversal the end of the month so I hope that solves my problem.
