hard lump in anus

Hi all, I'm back again with another question.   Eighteen months now since my BC was removed and ileostomy reversal    I am feeling wonderful in myself, still have a few frequent bms which sometimes leave me with a sore butt, so have been putting cream just inside my anus.  Last night however, I discovered a hard lump about 1.5cm inside and it has really got me worried!   Has anyone out there had anything like this??  it is not sore and I wouldn't have known it was even there if I hadn't of put my cream inside.  I'm terrified of going to my Dr.  (I know I should) but I just don't want to hear bad news.

Did you say you had a reversal so you are actually have bowel movements through your rectum? If so it could be a hemorhoid

Thank you so much for your replies, it sounds like it could well be hemoroids as I haven't had stitches in that area and yes I can have normal bowel movements. (for which I am so grateful ) I certainly know what mom9mom is saying about one step at a time and give thanks to God for every step.
I feel so much better just hearing from you all and really appreciate your feedback.
