Removal of the rectum finally

yeah  Hi to all of you,

       As many of know that have been keeping up with this site,that I have been having with sever drainage coming through my rectum and my vigina.Well it has taken me on many of journeys,but I finally found a doctor that is willing to help me,and agrees with what I have saying all a long.I have been to at least six doctors who call themselves specialist,but none of them would even take the time to research my problem and try to help me.I go shifted for doctor,and finally ended up all the way in Pittsburgh,PA.  That is a two hundred and fifty three mile trip on way.But I am happy to say that this doctor that I found is willing to help me,with the removel of my rectum.I also told him about my bladder problem.He wants me to see a female friend of his,who is a Urologist,in the building next to him.He wants me to see her for some bladder test,to find out if my bladder will need to be removed or by passed,before he does his part of the surgery.If for some reason that my bladder does need to have one of the two surgeries done to it,he wants me to have both surgeries done at one time.

       This doctor said that with all of the problems that I was having before my colostomy,that the surgeon should of removed my rectum,knowing that there would be a pretty good chance of some drainage coming back full time,and being uncontrolable just like it was before I had the surgery to start with.

       I go to see the Urologist on April 6th.I can not wait,but I know that April will be here before we know it.

       I just wish that I could of found this doctor earlier,but as they say "all good things come to those who wait" so now that is what I have to do,but I know in the long run,it will all be worth it when it will be done.

       My husband will be with me during the surgery and wait until I get settled it a room after all is said and done,then he will make that long drive home,and come and get when it is time for me to come home.I will in Allaghany Hospital for at least nine days if not longer.My husband and I will be communacating by phone while I am in the hospital.

       Once again,it has taken me a long time to get some one who cares,but I have and now I have to wait,but at least I know that my problems will soon be over with,and will feel much better.I know all of you have seen that Detrol commericail on T.V. where the lady is always going to the bathroom,well that is how I feel with my probem.It too,is controlling my life.

Good luck with the Urologist on April 6th. I don't have a rectum, just an anus. ( I cannot believe I can talk about this) But I have drainage all the time, too. At first my surgeon said he would close the anus. Then he changed his mind. At this point, I think I can live with it. I just have to wear pads all the time. As far as your bladder goes, couldn't the urologist just tack up your bladder? I did have that surgery done with a mesh hammock like thingy. The problem was solved.

Good for you for not giving up! I'm glad you found a doctor who will do the surgery for you.

       Are you saying that you are still having drainage after having your rectum removed?Is so how can that be possible,and where is it coming fromm?

       I have already had five bladder surgeries.I have had my bladder tucked up,sewed up and put in two slings and none of them are holding.I go to the bathroom maybe three times a day if I am lucky,but I am up about every other hour going to the bathroom.I have what is called and Inter Stem Implant in me that supposed to control the bladder,but it has stopped working,and this is my third Implant.So I am running out of options.Every time I get into the car,and start to on any distance I have to stop and go to the bathroom.Plus that my bladder is not emptying completely anymore.

      I have had four very large babies when I was younger and had long labor with each of them.My daughter was 8/15,my boys were 9/11,10/12,and 10/14ounces.So having such big babies started the whole thing.

       Thank you for answering me.

       I was determinded not to give up,no matter how far I had to go to get it done.Unfortunitly I had to for doctor to doctor like I said,to finially the right one to help me.I am really looking forward to getting it down in hopes that my problems will be over this time.That is what I was told when I had my colostomy.I would like to Sue that doctor for Mal-Practice,but I don't really have the grounds to do it on,except for he did not do the complete job.

       But April will be here before we know it,then I will see the Urologist,but it will probably take about three trips up to Pittsburgh,PA.,to have differant test and what not down,and the two doctors will have to get a date as to when they can get together and do the surgery.If I were just have my rectum done,it would of be  done sometime this month,but he wants to make sure that I don't have to have bladder surgery and then have to be opened up again.I think I finally found that cares.

Sans,
I had three large babies, but not quite as large as yours. As time passed, the bladder just about fell out, literally. So having it slung up has helped a lot. Yes, I still have drainage. I guess it is the fluid that helped move bowels when I did have all my parts. You know, it really means a lot to have a doctor that cares. You are lucky.
