Hey Matt!  We moved here to Sault Ste Marie in June (from Peterborough)......Hi Mike...from Dartmouth??  I lived there for 10 years when I was single and much younger (lol).  I used to work for HFC at the Dartmouth Shopping Centre on Wyse Road....I loved it there!  smilewinkgrin

i wouldnt laugh at the way you talk i promise.
I live in NC and the people here say i got a strong accent! even when we go fartehr south people remark on my extreme drawl. i think it's cute though, lol.

Well I was born and raised in Cincinnati, I was taught to say the word - Please? - instead of pardon or excuse me, if you need someone to repeat their question or comment.

I've said this word on vacation and people just look at me so odd!!!

My husband said it to a customer over the phone once, when they were haggling over an order price and the customer said - oh alright, I'll agree to that price!

So no distinct accent that I'm told we have but that is one quirky odd thing about Cincinnatians! At least older generations.....my daughters - 18 and 21 - do not say it.

Back to accents and what not.....

Mary--I used to work for a major retailer and we had employees that transferred all over the company...I worked with this great woman for a couple years from Cinci (born and raised) and what an accent she had!!! When I moved to Ohio I thought that was how everyone talked!!! She must have been a fluke:)

Now I'm the one with the "Yankee" accent!

I live in Washington St. near Spokane. We get lots of snow here but the summers are real nice.

I grew up in Illinios near Chicago, then lived in Alabama for 15 years near Montgomery, then 2 years ago moved to Idaho near Boise.

I'm from Vulcan, MI which is in the Upper Peninsual of MI, very close to the WI boarder.  Only "bigger" town is Marquette 2 hours north or Green Bay WI 2 hours south.

No schoo last week because it was -36 with the wind chill. Got to love it

yeah! We're really from all over. All over the U.S. and Israel, and Australia-even thouogh we didn't need Shaz to BRAG about the HOT weather there when we are all freezing our bags off! :-) Actually thanks to this thread, I've started to talk with a gal who is also from KC. "Hopeso" I'm so glad she contacted me. It's nice to know someone close to me for support. So thanks for starting it.

haha lucky you!  I remember when I was in College up north the temperature gage on my window read -40 before the windchill and everyone still showed up for school lol.  It was a dry cold though.. :)
