am so glad your surgery is done and over with!!! I felt that prior to the surgery I was a mess, but once it was over and done with the feeling of no UC was awazing!!!
I really am so happy with my decision. It did take a minute to adjust to the ostomy, but now that it's been three weeks I am completely comfortable with it and I really like the Coloplast Sensura I'm using. So, it's going GREAT!!!
I do suggest you call around to all the companies and request samples. I was sent home with a Hollister and once I received the pkg my nurse ordered I cont'd to use them for awhile with the velcro seal. However, I do really like the Sensura I have now...and now am contemplating the Sensura Flex b/c it's a bag and adheres to the flange by paste...hmmm...it sounds crazy to me.
Anyway, there are so many things to think about and absorb once you're home. I really did over do it, lifting and activity-wise. So, I've really taken it easy the past few days, well, week really. It's made a big difference in my recovery.
My stoma has shrunken is size more this past week than ever before! I rinse my bag with water each time I empty it and I started feeling the cold water so I knew I needed to change my flange/wafer b/c my skin was exposed!!!
I'm just super happy and looking forward to getting some energy back. It seems that my body is working really hard to get better and I've just been really sleepy the past few days. I may need to talk with my doctor about that b/c I had been extremely energized the first week or two. So, I'm curious now. I really liked being charged...it was a new feeling, as my UC always left me completely exhausted.
Anyway, I so hope you're doing well, and that you're recovering okay. I know you're having a pain issue, and I posted a reply to that one as well.
GOOD LUCK!!! You can email me if you have questions or want to talk privately.
