how do you females deal with little yellow polka dot bikinis (NOT) bathing suits???

Ok as I have said before I am 3 months new and live in the sunshine state, I am young and LOVE the beach and wearinf my little sexy bikinis which obviously ain't gonna happen this summer- not the bikini anyways... because I am trying really hard not to let this effect my self esteem I try to maintain a normal life I still go out have fun etc etc... but I am quite concerned about how this is not going to show even in a one peice because they are spandex I bought a tankini that is kinda cute but am worried at the same time if I lift my arms the top of the bag will show because the bottoms don't go over the very top and once again their spandex and how do you keep the fact that you have a bag underneath discreet??? And any suggestions cause I don't want to wear a granny swimsuit ( no pun I love my grandma lol) but I also love my little body in a bikini.. I hope I don't sound bad I am just trying to be honest... thank you. tongue

you could wear a sarrong, a cute skirted bottom or shorts...lands end has some great ones and I've found some nice ones at my local department store.

Sunshine....I dilate and urrigate every morning do you do that.....I have no output except when I overindulge with a huge meal.....I wear the cap every day...its much smaller and doesnt hang down......kim/maggie

I was going to recommend the skirt option too. Some of them have mid-skirts, so they are just an accessory.

There is this gal - intimatemoments.com that makes lingerie... (not that's what you are looking for!) but if they can make that, they can make swimsuits!

I'm sure I'll face this once I lose the weight after the ostomy surgery... we have good friends in kissimmee.. and we hope to go down there around Christmas.

i wear a tankini with a little skirt on the bottom, kind lof looks like a tennis dress,, and what i do is use a safety pin to pin the top andbottom together.
If you go to the photobucket page and sign on as crohnsdisease password 6mp3asa there is a pic of me in my suit, and its probbay been about 3 hours since i emptied and you cant see it.
One thing i suggest is emptying right before you go, and take some immodium to slow or stop your output for a while and some gasx to keep from having gas.
I spent all summer last year in the pool with my friends and even went to the beach with them and they had NO idea until i told them a few weeks ago.
Unless you just let it get realy really full it wont show.

I just wear a regular one piece bathing suit with a pattern or splash of colour over my stoma site - that will disguise any slight bulge that might be there. Never, in 33 years, has anyone commented that they can see my bag under my bathers. You're much more aware of it than other people (most of whom have never ever heard of a stoma anyway).

Thank you everybody for your replies its nice to know there are other people out there that can calm your anxieties... maggie I do not irrigate and haven't really looked into it, it sounds like a good idea but scary too, I would probably screw something up... summerstorm I will look at the pics today thanks for the information.

sunshine i'm just like u! i was always the one in the bikini and i had the same fears, what i did was get the one piece with the cut out. u know it looks like a bikini in the back and is kinda open on the sides, but covers my stoma, and they still look rather sexy ;o) i also have the tankini with the panty bottom and its open in the back, but it covers my sides, and i took summer's advice and just safety pinned the top to the panty, just have to empty a little more often. but patterns are definitely best...lol

I salute your spirit which is quite commendable. Life has to be enjoyed and all adversities have to be taken in a stride. This reminds me of something I read about attitude.

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she only had 3 hairs on her head.

"Well, " she said," I think I'll braid my hair today." So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only 2 hairs on her head. "H-M-M, " she said, "I think I'll part my hair down the middle today." So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up and looked in the mirror and noticed she only had 1 hair on her head. "Well", she said, "Today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail." So she did and she had a fun, fun day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head. "YEAH" ssshe exclaimed. "I don't have to fix my hair today"!

Sunshine, I live in Florida, too, and understand the importance that the bathing suit has in our wardrobe. :-) Where in Florida are you? I'm in Fort Myers.

I used to wear only bikinis and thought I'd never wear one again, but alas, I finally found one that works! The bottoms are a funky, colorful skirt/short combo (a.k.a. skort) that I bought at West Marine, which I wear with a bikini top. The skort covers everything below the belly button, and the bikini top shows just enough tummy to make me feel like I have a bikini on. I also have a sexy, black one piece suit with a skirt that looks like a mini dress with a halter top. It has two layers to it, so it really hides everything.

Good luck finding the right suit for you. They're out there, you just have to try a few on before you find it!
