So this seems weird to me.......I am out of both bags and wafers (I use 2 pc convex system) so I called Byram to place an order (I'm totally out, put my last set on Monday.....living on the edge, praying for no leaks).  Anyways, they said I have to wait until the 27th to order if I want my insurance to cover it or I had to pay out of pocket.  So I ordered to minumum and paid for it myself.  After getting a little more clarification about what my insurance will cover per month they said  "4 boxes of wafers (which is 20 total) and 1 box of bags (which is 10 total)".  Does that make sense to anyone.  I mean I can make 10 last a month if I don't have alot of leaks, but why would they supply 20 of one and only 10 of the other when they are used together.  I guess if i had to I could rinse out the bags and just change the wafers.  I wouldn't go through 20 wafers a month anyway, but if my insurance covers it maybe I'll start a stock pile for a rainy day.

That is weird- they probably expect you to re-use the bags, I guess. I got even numbers of each- 20 bags and 20 wafers. What I don't know is how long that is supposed to last? I will be calling the supplier soon to re- order and ask how long those are supposed to last. I change bags and wafers every 3-4 days.

I sure hope I don't have to pay out of pocket- that stuff is expensive smhair

I use Convectec also, I order 20 bags and 20 wafers and change them every third day, I hope this helps

That does sound weird. I know that some cover more BAGS than wafers if you are using a 2 pieces system because for some, the wafer lasts longer than the bag and one just changes the bag keeping the wafer on. I just use a one piece but have never had any insurance issues, and I change about every 3 days too.

I think I am going to call and talk to my insurance co.  If I remember right my doctor had to right a prescription for my supplies, maybe I can get a new one from my dr specifing more bags per month.

I am wondering if you are also using a protective skin barrier by paste ConvaTec . I use to have the same problem before and now my wafer last much longer.

thats really weird, i usually order more bags than wafers. I mean its a box of 5 wafers and 10 bags even. I wonder if the person at the insurance told you backwards? I change every wed night/thursday and sunday/mondaymorning. So i use 8 a month. I just wear the same bag the whole time, unless i have a leak in the bag.
I would def call the insurace and see what the problem is and also have your dr office call them for you.

you can reuse the bags, I do, I use the same bag for a long time. My wafers last for about a week

My mom orders mine and idk how many extra I have but I have a BUNCH of extra wafers and bags..and i change mine every 2-4 days depending on whether i get a leak under my wafer. I use the 2 piece Hollister. So if you need any extra..I have PLENTY! Im getting my ostomy off this Wednesday so if anyone needs any bags just lemme know =) Esp. if you dont have insurance and need them bc ive heard theyre expensive =(

I just went 17 days without changing, so I do pretty well at having enough
