I've heard it can affect sex organ(s).
I'm curious about
it since my lower colon and pelvic area irritated each other.
So what it does?

Not sure how it affects men, however, I know it seems to be more painful for me since my surgery. Maybe someone else can chime in here like NASCARon and give you more information on how it affects men. Good luck to you!

Sometimes, esp in the case of cancer, surgeons have to cut very close to crucial nerve endings and can sometimes actually nick them resulting in impotence. It's not very common but does happen and seems to happen more in the cases where the ostomy is due to cancer rather than IBD, since the surgeon has to cut more extensively to get all the cancer out. In most cases, it's only temporary but for those who end up permanently impotent, I know several guys who have found Viagra and the likes to be a big help.
Good luck.

I have had my colon removed due to UC. My Doc and my stoma nurse both warned me about
the risk to sexual function. I actualluy opted for leaving a small stump to try to reduce that risk and to also leave the door
open for a Jpouch if i decide i want one.
Since my surgery everything still works! I do feel a pain across the very top of my groin area when I cough hard or laugh - this might just still be healing though.
All the doctors will be aware of the risk and will definitly be very careful to avoid damaging anything down there.
